Sydney Miller is a 13 year old girl who considered her Hawaii home and discovers his own inner strength through surfing and other island resources. Her overprotective father keeps her from surfing with his new friend Gia and her other friends. Although it is not accepted, she does it anyway after finding his dead mother's old surfboard much nuisance to her father. After a surfing accident, she meets his mother, old friend, Mali, and is able to learn more about the mother that her father never told her about. Even during a ceremony celebrating the coming of the whales, she learns how her mother died.
Her mother was a surfer, and a great day for surfers, she drowned in a surprisingly quiet. Her new friends start disrespecting her because she had a legacy to a beach and the rumor was that she would sell it. She shows them wrong by refusing to sign the papers, and her father and her step mother decides to move there because of Sydney wants. While there, she meets a boy named Kona (Brian Christopher Stark) and they develop a beautiful relationship. Sydney's friendship with Gia problem occurs when it is discovered that Gia planned their meeting and friendship only to save her from the beach to be sold at a large hotel. But their friendship quickly resumed when Sydney rescue Gia from a surfing accident, Gia reveals that even if their "chance" meeting was actually scheduled it evolved into something real and Sydney decides not to sell land.
