Sarah Palin has announced not only that she will not seek re-election as Alaska's governor but that she is up. Lt. Governor Sean Parnell will be sworn in Governor's Picnic in Fairbanks on July 25. Alaska ready Clare independence.

La theories begin: Brewing Fresh scandal involving her fast and loose approach to public funding? Grand standing in front of a run for the Senate and / or White House? FOX recently talking empty head? Some, but please do not pin this on David Letterman.

So much for a slow news holiday weekend.
Update: Palin, recently accused of having forced one public health official from the office to be "out of touch on social issues, says she will leave the government to" influence [sic] positive changes "from the outside." We know that we can affect [sic] positive change outside of government at this time on a different scale and actually make a difference. "Politics? For her it is only a superficial waste of blood sport."
