Varun Gandhi Fearless speech for election

Consistent with the sources, the party has advised its candidates for upcoming elections to be cautious while speaking on any public platform to avoid violating Model Code of Conduct.

New Delhi: worried by the storm raised on Varun Gandhi's supposed public remarks, The Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) has asked its LS polls candidates to think before they speak on any public platform.

The statement came after the party landed in fresh trouble by Varun Gandhi's alleged communal remarks.

BJP candidate Varun Gandhi has been slapped with a notice charging him with violation of the model code of conduct for elections for allegedly making communal remarks during a rally held on March 6 in Pilibhit.

Review Form Different politician

Election Commission: Has asked for a copy of the tape of his speech. The Commission is expected to review the speech at a meeting this morning in New Delhi.

Former election commissioner T S Krishnamurthy: Speaking exclusively to NDTV, he said that after examining his speech under electoral offences, action could be taken against Varun Gandhi.

Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi: This could be the culture in the Congress, which functions on the basis of divide and rule. The Congress has always encouraged communalism in the name of secularism. The BJP doesn't approve of this. We don't agree with what Varun has said. It is not our ideology.

Video speech Here-

'Notices have been issued to BJP candidate from Pilibhit and state unit president for their alleged communal remarks. They have been asked to submit their replies,' election officials said here but Varun, who is the
son BJP MP Maneka Gandhi, denied the charge in his reply submitted to the district magistrate M P Agarwal, saying that the CD showing his speech was tampered with.

Have you actually seen the video? It's a grainy image, the voice doesn't sound like Varun Gandhi's and no one can say anything conclusively. There's also the mystery of why it took 11 days for the tape to surface. With digital technology today, it's so easy to doctor tapes.

To say Varun Gandhi said these things is to say the fellow is a fool - for only a fool would say such things and destroy his political career. To attribute these remarks to him is to insult the intelligence of the young fellow. In any event, as politicians go, there's no such thing as bad publicity! This move by the forces behind the doctoring of this tape will backfire. Varun Gandhi is winning more sympathy and is outdoing Rahul Gandhi for 'brand awareness.'

Many pseudo-secular and emotional Indians jump at the chance to pull down a clearly articulate young fellow.

In any case, he is innocent until proven guilty. Though, of course, the CEC has decided, in its wisdom, that he is guilty until proven innocent. What a circus!
