Obama chimpanzee Cartoon seems to link Obama to dead chimpanzee

A New York Post cartoon that some have interpreted as comparing the U.S. president Barack Obama to a violent Chimp shot by police Wednesday drew outrage from civil rights leaders and elected officials who said that the emissions of the racist stereotypes of black as monkeys.

This cartoon image from the New York Post appeared on Page Six post Wednesday 18 February 2009. The cartoon, which refers to Travis the chimpanzee who was shot to death by police in Stamford, Conn. .. Monday, after it mauled a friend of his own, drew criticism Wednesday on media websites, and from civil rights activist the Rev. Al Sharpton.
