The innovative 'Hannah Montana' movie keeps the look straightforward and modest. The secure, girly look of ruffles and jeans is in. Spaghetti straps, ultra short skirts, and skimpy tops and bottoms are out.
Well-groomed, nourishing and demure. Seem to be at the ultra-Disneyfied costumes in this month's "Hannah Montana" movie and you'll see the newest mirror image of the accelerating alter in the direction of more parent-friendly twin fashions.
Overlook Britney-era bling 'n' bras or clingy American Attire spandex 16-year-old "Hannah Montana" star Miley Cyrus wasn't even permitted to wear leggings while the cameras were rising and falling. Spaghetti straps were verboten, as were bare belly, micro minis, one-shouldered tanks and anything bordering on a camisole.
In part the assessment was a matter-of-fact one anticipated at keeping Cyrus allied with "Hannah Montana's" 6- to 14-year-old tween demographic, even as the actress herself moves ahead of it. "We wanted her to look as usual, ordinary and impartial as possible in most of the film -- hair and makeup of course, but particular costumes," says director Peter Chelsom.
Veering away from "Hannah Montana's" garish TV get-ups, as well as Cyrus' more and more full-grown -up off-camera style he and the film's costume designer, Christopher Lawrence, dialed down their juvenile star's look.
