Star's dispute over RiseUp magazine deepens photo

Claims it owed more than $ 2.2 million, The Kansas City Star has countersued RiseUp, a short-lived magazine on race relations that ran in several newspapers, and that the Star printed.



Star response and counterclaim, filed Tuesday in Ray County Circuit Court in Richmond, came in response to a request filed in February by RiseUp is the parent company Ellis Management Marketing Group Inc., or EMMG.

The petition alleged that Ellis and EMMG were not parties RiseUp for printing and distribution arrangements with Star, and therefore was not subject to Star claims for payment.
