London’s South Bank Publicity stunt : nude Aer Lingus at Jubilee Gardens

The “999 Nudes” event was organised by Aer Lingus on the Facebook and Twitter websites and was held to promote its £9.99 fares to a series of destinations where they are going head-to-head with easyJet at Gatwick.


Aer Lingus has set up a base at Gatwick and is aiming to reposition itself as a no-frills carrier known for operating from the UK as well as Ireland.

It has launched an aggressive advertising and marketing drive to promote the move, including television adverts claiming it offers fares less than half the price of easyJet’s.

Aer Lingus claimed 2,000 people registered for the event, and 999 were offered places, as well as being given two free return flights to one of its eight new routes from Gatwick, including Vienna and Munich.

New Technology: Use finger as Pen Drive

A computer programmer who lost half his finger after his motorbike crashed into a deer has had the finger replaced with a USB drive.

Jerry Jalava, from Finland, says the two-gigabyte prosthetic finger is not permanently attached to his hand, allowing him to leave his finger in the computer slot and "pick it up after I'm ready".

The silicon prosthetic looks like a normal finger, but can be peeled back at the tip to reveal the USB drive.

Mr Jalava uses the drive as storage for "photos, movies and other useful files", The Telegraph said.

"When Jerry told doctors what he did for a living they joked he should have a USB 'finger drive' but that was good enough for him, and he set about making one," the paper said.

Mr Jalava said he had been flooded with questions about the finger after a friend blogged about his unique prosthetic.

He set about answering some of those questions on his own blog.

"First of all it is not attached permanently in to my body, it is [a] removable prosthetic which has [a] USB memorystick inside it," he wrote.

"Secondly when I'm using the USB, I just leave my finger inside the slot and pick it up after I'm ready."

He also described the crash, which happened last July.

British singer Amy Winehouse Tuesday denied assaulting a woman after a charity ball in London last year, a case which has already prevented her from performing in the United States.
Amy Jade Winehouse is an English singer and songwriter, known for her eclectic mix of various musical genres including soul, jazz, rock & roll, ska and R&B.

The 25-year-old bee-hived soul singer pleaded not guilty to a charge of common assault on Westminster Magistrates' Court, the Press Association reported. She is accused of assaulting Shere Flash for Berkeley Ball last September. The case was adjourned to July 23.

The singer won five Grammy awards in 2008 and her second album "Back to Black" has won critical Acclaim. But her personal life, including a battle against drug addiction has overshadowed her recording success. Earlier this month, Winehouse failed to get a U.S. work visa to perform at April's Coachella festival in California with such acts as Paul McCartney and murderers because of assault charges.
